Feeling uncomfortable in your bra? It's time to get fitted!
"Your bra should be supportive and comfortable at all times. If you're not getting fitted correctly you'll be feeling your bra all day."
When was the last time you were fitted for a bra? If you can't remember or have never been fitted, there is no better time than the present, particularly during the month of October.

Not only will you be giving yourself a more comfortable fit, you will also be helping to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research, with Bras N Things donating $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation every time someone gets fitted at a store.

Bras N Things fitting specialist Carla Lucato says some woman don't completely understand the importance of being fitted properly for a bra.

"Eight out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra," she said.

Carla recommends that every time you purchase a new bra you get fitted by a professional. Bras N Things offer free bra fitting consultations throughout their stores.

So, how do you know you're wearing the wrong bra size? Carla says that if you can feel your bra throughout the day, it's not the right size for you.

"A well fitted bra should be supportive, comfortable and flattering under the clothes that you are wearing," Carla said.

"You shouldn't even know that you're wearing a bra.

"Your bra should be supportive and comfortable at all times. If you're not getting fitted correctly you'll be feeling your bra all day."

Other than the uncomfortable factor of a bra that doesn't fit correctly, Carla says it can "make or break an outfit".

If you are wearing the incorrect bra size you will:

  • Feel uncomfortable
  • Your bra will sit poorly under your clothes
  • It will ride up your back
  • It will dig into your shoulders (where the strap sits)
  • It can cause bruising under arms
  • It may give you back pain
  • It may give you "double busts", side cleavage and back cleavage

From October 10 to October 23, Bras N Things plan to fit 10,000 woman, raising $10,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

These funds will enable the foundation to fund research programs to cover every aspect of breast cancer, from increasing the understanding of genetics to improving ways to support women and their families.

BnT are completely clueless when it comes to fitting a larger bust. i am a 14G, have been given d or dd cups to try, and have been told after a measurement that i am 'definately no bigger that a b or c cup'. the last time i went into a BnT store, the salesgirl (who was always in the same predicament as me) gave me the names of OTHER RETAIL STORES where she shops because BnT do not cater to anyone who is not the 'average'. i should not have to be resigned to wearing a bra my grandmother would wear just because bra manufacturers don't or will not make nice, flattering pretty bras my 27yr old self would want to wear. manufacturers, WE WILL GIVE YOU MONEY FOR THESE BRAS!
I have been fitted on numerous occassions, usually in different BnT stores, and I don't own one single comfortable bra. I can be 14DD or 14E, sometimes 16D or 16DD, it varies deoending on the style, stretch, give and cut. The following can be wrong with any given bra... * Underwire digs in * Underwire comes up too high under armpits * Straps dig in at the front because they are placed too far apart (balconette) * Boning digs in at the side (usually needed to keep the shape) * Elastic around underbust digs in * Where underwires come together in centre of chest, the bra sits too high I must have tried 100's of bras, and own no less than 50 different styles and brands. All of them seem to be designed by men, because what woman would cause such torture and poor design to her own kind!
both my daughter and myself need larger cup fittings in a bra. our local store of bra's and things continually tried to trell us that instead of wearing a 12DD that a 14c would fit perfectly. definately not true. we havenot purchased a bra there since. Myers and other specialty stores are where we go now.
As a fuller figured woman i empathise with some of these comments but I recently purchased a well fitted bra at the karingal store in Victoria, the staff were courteous and attentive, they arranged for the color bra I wanted to be mailed out to me and ensuredd I was happy with my purchase, and reinforced their comfort guarantee. I thoroughly recommend them.
A couple of years ago I looked up a bra size chart and instructions on how to fit oneself, and using a tape measure worked out that I had been wearing the wrong bra size for most of my life. I am a larger person and it turns out that I can't buy my correct size in Australia so buy all of my bras online now. It doesn't cost that much and finally I feel comfortable and dignified.
Ladies, Intimo Lingerie goes from sizes 8A to 24G (so yes, 8G you can buy from us) - we will fit you in the correct size bra. We have everyday bra's, sports bra's, strapless bra's - you name it, we've got it! www.intimo.com.au I've never met a set I couldn't fit! We are Independent Intimo Consultants, so bra fitting is our own business, and we care whether or not our customers are satisfied.
I too have been fitted many times, one oocation stands out alot for me. Went into a bra's n things. Girl came over to help me, asked if I wanted to get fitted I said sure but I already know my size. Which is usually 10DD in most brands. She took a look at me and said noooo you don't look like a 10DD.. I'll get you a 10C... needless to say she was redfaced after bringing me back 3 bras she thought i'd fit into.. They should really measure you. Not just look at you with a bra on and goo... umm yeah i think 10C... because I just like to guess. I think I know better then the person wearing the bra. Never had good experience shopping for bras, terrible cant find ones that fit right in all the places. Even if I'm trying all the different sizes, even the ones that fitters bring me. Cup sizes too small giving me double boobs even when I fit into 10DD in the same brand just a different style.. it sucks. n cause of my cup size I always get rib pain as the underwire digs into me.More Paddin PLS
Sorry, but this company don't supply bra's for all women. I have to buy mine overseas - when they bring in a size 8G, I'll be there. I would challenge them to fit me with their current stock!
Bras n Things ! Puuhlease. They dont stock anything over a size 14. Not Even in there Sports Bras! Not Much Help if you are a size 16 or 18.
perhaps bras n things should source larger sizes if they are going to state women should be fitted by professionals. i would love to buy something from their stores, but they seem to cater to the " average " lady... not the larger ones, who are often ignored by sales staff, and treated like lepers when they ask advice form those staff. i commend them for helping raise awareness for breast cancer, but they need to look closer to home for sales skills
